René Wilson-McCaul (They/Them)

Halito, my name is René Wilson McCaul (they/them). My style of therapy was born from my own healing through cultural identity work. As a therapist, I am influenced by an eclectic mix of humanistic approach including narrative therapy, solutions-based therapy, somatic, animism/paganism and my Native relational-based approach. As a drama therapist, clients have the opportunity to connect to ritual, rites of passage, role-play, creative expression and embodiment as portals to a deeper connection to self and community. I bring 30 years of stage and film experience to my role as a creative therapist. I believe humor is one of the greatest medicines.

I enjoy working with Highly Sensitive People (HSP), creative people, neurodivergent people, the disability community, those with complex trauma, the kinky/sex work/sex+ communities, the polyamory community, the Two Spirit/IndigiQueer/LGBTQ+ communities, and BIPOC.

I bring an empathetic, curious, respectful presence to my clients by offering an anti-oppression, culture and trauma informed style from within a White-passing/mixed race, Two Spirit, Queer, Trans masculine, neurodivergent, disabled body. I provide affirming care to those living within targeted populations. This affirming work centers targeted populations such as BIPOC, immigrants, disabled, Two Spirit/IndigiQueer/LGBTQ+, polyamorous/unique relationship structured families, and Kink/BDSM and sex work communities. As a member of these targeted populations myself, I understand and empathize with our shared struggles in an oppressive world and am committed to undoing White Supremacy.

Currently, I am working towards my MA in Couple and Family Therapy with Drama Therapy from Antioch University Seattle and hold a BFA in Theater from Southern Methodist University. I am an enrolled member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. Yakoke for reading!
